Unfortunately, Apple’s Voice Memos app does not support importing audio files directly from the share sheet. However, there are a few workarounds to get your recording into the Voice Memos app:
Workaround 1: Use the Files App
1. Save the Recording to Files
• When sharing the audio file, choose Save to Files instead of looking for Voice Memos.
• Save it in a location like On My iPhone or iCloud Drive.
2. Open the File in Voice Memos
• Open the Files app, find the recording, and tap on it.
• Tap the Share button and look for “Open in Voice Memos” or “Copy to Voice Memos.”
• If the option isn’t there, Voice Memos doesn’t support importing that file type.
Workaround 2: Use GarageBand (If Files Doesn’t Work)
1. Open GarageBand on your iPhone.
2. Create a new project and import the audio file.
3. Export it as a new Voice Memo recording from GarageBand.
Alternative: Use a Third-Party Transcription App
If your goal is to transcribe the recording, you might have better luck with apps like:
• Otter.ai
• Rev Voice Recorder
• Notta
These apps specialize in transcribing audio and might be faster than Apple’s built-in transcription tools.
