why is my maps taking up 35gb ?

ive been having this problem for months. maps started taking up so much gb. i realized it was too much when it was 17gb around may 2024. its now april 1st 2025 and im at 25.59gb from maps. ive tried deleting maps and it doesnt change a thing. i dont know what to do anymore

Apple Mapps takes up too much storage My apple maps is taking up an obscene amount of storage (73.93 GB). Literally do not understand how since I’ve had downloaded maps i had before deleted for quite some time now. I’ve tried offloading the app and deleting it all together but nothing changes. I saw the only temporary fix is to reset your phone and not use back up but that seems so extreme. Anyone else with the problem?
