Can I revert to an older iOS version on my iPhone?

I have a problem with my iPhone 13pro (latest iOS version) and also on our iPad.

After the last 2-3 updates, the devices have become incredibly slow, the graphics e.g. in Whatsapp are grey at the start, then only become bright after tapping.

The whole system feels like it has a minute to spare, so it no longer runs as smoothly as before.

It's more than annoying and irritating. Will this get better again soon with a bugfix or - can I reset my old iOS version? I don't want to be "slowed down" any further, I'm really disappointed!

Has anyone else experienced this and is it possible to reinstall an old version?

Thank you for your support - maybe Apple is reading this and can help.

Your iPhone’s performance slowing down is most certainly not related to the latest iOS updates. As a matter of fact, iOS updates are supposed to provide the latest bug fixes and performance enhancements. So that causing the performance decrease would be contrary to their purpose. Instead, this was likely rather a pure timing coincidence, and there can be many other factors causing the performance decrease on your Devices. Such as a failing battery as an example.

You cannot revert your iOS. That would probably cause more issues than to begin with as if it were possible, you would be installing a no longer signed, out-dated iOS version. Inside lies tons of bugs, security vulnerabilities, and more. Please also note that you are not addressing Apple employees, but we are rather Apple Volunteers.

Instead, perform a Forced Restart on your Apple devices. This procedure is done to rectify software issues. This will delete any corrupt files and re-index the file system which could be slowing down your devices. Be sure to perform it quickly and ignore the Power Off Slider that appears.

  • Press and quickly release the Volume Up Button
  • Press and quickly release the Volume Down Button
  • Press and hold the Side Button until you see the Apple Logo

Please post back if your devices are still slow, and we can work from there as this could possible be a hardware issue that may need to be taken a look at.

There is no Apple in these user to user technical forum it is so ANNOYING and IRRITATING when people sign up for the forum but don't the read Term of Service they sign up for.

Basic troubleshooting steps:

Restart, Reset, Restore from backup and Restore as NEW.

And NO Downgrading isn't supported by Apple.
