MacBook Pro with M1 Pro chip charges for a few seconds and then stops

When I try to charge my MacBook (40% charged) it charges for a few seconds then stops, and then starts again and so on. I have unplugged charger from power outlet but this makes no difference

A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies


Reboot as normal and test.
