iPhone 16 Pro Max 5X Camera Focusing Issues

Hello all. I’ve had my iPhone 16 Pro Max since Sept 2024 brought it brand new and I’ve been liking the phone so far. The cameras are excellent as well, that’s mainly why I brought this phone since I’m a photographer.

However, the past week or so, I’ve noticed only the 5X zoom camera has issues focusing, even when tapping the screen to focus the image stays noisy and soft and the image comes out terrible. I’ve noticed this on IOS 18.3.2 and even after updating to the new IOS 18.4 that came out this week still the same thing.

Question is could this be a software issue, or is this something wrong with the 5X camera itself and would it require a camera replacement?

When using the camera zoom at 5x or higher on the iPhone 16 Pro, it's highly advisable to use a tripod for the best photography experience. At these zoom levels, even slight hand movements can introduce blur or reduce image sharpness. Since you're a photographer yourself, you're likely already familiar with the benefits of added stability—so a tripod is definitely something you’ll want to keep handy for telephoto shots.

If you're already using a tripod and still noticing issues with image quality, it may be a software-related glitch. In that case, consider performing a Reset All Settings on your iPhone. This won't delete your personal data but will reset system settings like Wi-Fi passwords, keyboard dictionary, and layout preferences. To do this, go to:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings

This can help clear out any underlying configuration bugs that might be affecting camera performance.
