I am not getting notification sounds on my iPhone 15

No sounds coming to my iPhone 15. No text or email alerts at all. Calls ringing okay. Phone is not on silent.

An assistant in the Apple Store said it was because the phone was locked. This is my 6th Apple phone and never happened before. They are on the screen when I touch the screen, so are coming through.

And now you know why you are not getting notification sounds on your iPhone. When you are wearing Apple Watch, notifications are delivered to your watch OR your iPhone, but to both at the same time. If your iPhone screen is locked, notifications will be delivered to your watch, not your phone. If your iPhone screen is on, notifications will be delivered to your phone, not your watch. This is exactly how Apple designed it to work. So there is nothing wrong with your phone in this regard.

People around you will truly appreciate this as you won't have both devices dinging at the same time. I don't use sounds on my Apple Watch. I use Haptics on my watch and have them set to prominent with the volume turned up. I get quite a tap and buzz on my wrist, so I never miss a notification. And no one around me is even aware I've gotten a notification. Win Win, if you ask me!

I don't know if they will or won't. I've never done so, as I like how notifications work on Apple Watch. Try it and if it does what you want, you'll have your answer.

Keep in mind if you have a cellular Apple Watch, one of the advantages is you can still make and receive phone calls without your phone being close by. If you decide to go out and not carry your phone with you, turning off notifications on the watch will mean getting no notifications on your Apple Watch. When I'm at work, for example, if I go to the restroom, I never carry my phone in with me. But I still get notifications on my watch, which to me is important.

Your choice of course.
