iMac keyboard layout is completely wrong

To start, I have had issues with this since I got the computer where the top keys (F1-F12) do not have any function and I cannot correct it (I have tried apple support to no avail).

I recently charged my keyboard with a lightening cable and when reconnecting to the iMac I have found a lot of the keys to be functioning incorrectly.

for example.

when I press

“e” it opens emojis

”a” opens the taskbar

”h” moves all windows and shows the desktop

”f” is full screen

”c” opens the control centre

I do not know how to fix this and I can’t see any solutions in the keyboard settings.
