CarPlay does not display correct app on vehicles screen

After installing iOS 18 back in October when using any media app (Spotify, Apple Music, iHeart) when restarting my truck CarPlay defaults to the screen with all the icons vs displaying the app that I was using. If for example I use a Maps App it WILL come back on the screen after restarting the truck but NO media apps come back on the screen after a restart of the truck. This worked properly for the first 1.5 years that I owned the truck. This can't possibly be the way it supposed to work now right? If I turn my truck off with an app (any app) on the screen that screen should be what is displayed the next time the truck is started. Even if I was using "Now Playing" to see album cover art that should come back on the screen. Is anyone else seeing this? According to Apple Supervisor comments moments ago the default Icon screen is normal behavior. This CAN NOT be right.

Oh and WHY is CarPlay itself NOT and option to choose in the Help section of apple and even here? I know CarPlay is part of a Phone OS but.... Why is it NOT a Topic I can choose when tagging this? It's almost like Apple is hiding it!?!?!
