What does 'Apple mail 605.1' mean in a PlayStation security alert?

I received a security alert from PlayStation saying that a new sign-in was detected on ‘Apple mail 605.1’. What does this mean? I thought that was for emails? I was using my MacBook….can someone pls explain?

Did you get the security alert when you were actually logging into your PlayStation account? If so, then you can safely ignore it. Lots of accounts send you security alerts when they get a login form a new and unrecognized device.

Assuming you were logging in from a browser, I'd suggest that either your Safari User Agent is non-standard, or PlayStation's server is interpreting it oddly. E.g., the standard User Agent string for Safari 15.6.1 on Catalina is:

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/15.6.1 Safari/605.1.15

Note the similarity of AppleWebkit/605.1.15...

? Not much to go on without a screen shot.

Is there some associated issue?

Can you ignore the pop-up?

if in doubt for your third party app
