My previous IPhone (a13) which had a different wire obviously, for the phone but it seems like the connector that attaches to the car is different as well. Is there a connector/adapter wire that will work that I can buy?

Or what exact type of Subaru is it? Outback? Crosstek? WRX? Forrester? so we ca look it up and confirm the type of port.
It's probably just a regular USB port, in which case a normal USB-C (iPhone side) to USB-A (car side) cable should work.
