Taksbar Hiding is disabled by lockscreen

I turn on hiding the taskbar through the settings and through the context menu on the taskbar itself and no matter how I turn it on the hiding is turned off automatically every time the lockscreen turns on.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.3

I suppose you mean the Dock.

I don't know why the auto-hiding is being turned off. I cannot replicate the issue on my mac.

Does the same problem occur in Safe Mode?


In the meantime, until this gets resolved, Command-Option-D is a great help.

This is the keyboard shortcut to show or hide the Dock, so at least you can hide it quickly without going to the System Settings application.

Not sure which is the 'taskbar'...(?)


Dock is on the bottom and the menubar is along the top.


To trouble shoot further you can:


—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies


Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.


This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS




Verify your software is up to date…

The current stable release of Sequoia including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 15.4
