I've just downloaded the most recent update for my iPhone 12. When I go to my Bluetooth setting the wheel continues to spin as though it is searching. I think this is draining my battery. How do I stop the spinning?

It spins when you have the bluetooth settings screen open for the same reason the light in the fridge stays on when you have the door open...
As long as you have that page open, it will search for devices in pairing mode. When you leave that screen, it stops searching.
KiltedTime is 100% correct and I really like his analogy! Please don't assume what you're seeing has anything to do with a recent update. Bluetooth has operated this way for years on iPhone. Open Bluetooth in Settings and your phone assumes you're looking to pair a device and the wheel spins. It is a VERY LOW consumer of power, so that shouldn't be a concern either.
