MacBook Pro (Intel i7, 2020) Performance issues after macOS Sequoia update
Hello everyone,
I’m sharing my experience with macOS Sequoia on my MacBook Pro 16" Intel i7 (2020 model) to help others who might be facing similar issues.
After updating to macOS Sequoia step-by-step (version by version), my device performance dropped significantly. Here are the main problems I faced:
- Keyboard response is very slow – there’s a delay of 2-3 seconds after typing before the text appears.
- Touch Bar disappears – especially when using the dictionary or certain apps.
I have already tried the following:
- Completely erased the Mac and reinstalled macOS
- Restored from backup multiple times
- Ran full diagnostics with Apple Support (no hardware issues found)
Even after all this, the performance is still poor. In my opinion, macOS Sequoia is not optimized or compatible with the Intel i7 MacBook Pro 2020. It seems buggy on this hardware.
So, I’ve decided to downgrade macOS to improve performance and continue my work without delays.
My suggestion:
If you are using the same Mac model, please avoid upgrading to macOS Sequoia until Apple releases a stable version or patch for this issue.
Also, I’m planning to downgrade to an older macOS version that gives the best possible performance on my MacBook Pro 16" Intel i7 (2020). I want smooth performance in all areas – graphics, coding, browsing, and daily multitasking.
Request:
If anyone can suggest the best and most stable macOS version for this device that gives 100% performance, please let me know.
Thanks,
GouRi
