How can I recover data from an iPhone stuck in recovery mode?

My iPhone is stuck in recovery mode (the screen showing the cable pointing to a laptop), and I can't get it out of that state. I desperately need to recover the data on it, but I don’t have a recent backup — so restoring it via iTunes or Finder is not an option.

I’ve already tried all the standard button combinations to force restart and exit recovery mode, but nothing works. Every time I connect it to my computer, iTunes/Finder only gives me the option to restore or update — and update fails, leaving it in the same state.

Is there any way to exit recovery mode or access the data without erasing everything? Any reliable tools or suggestions would be super appreciated.

Use iTunes or Finder to Restore: Connect your iPhone to a computer and use iTunes (on Windows or macOS Mojave and earlier) or Finder (on macOS Catalina and later) to restore your device. Be aware that this process will erase your data unless you have a backup.
Try Third-Party Tools: There are several third-party tools available that claim to help recover data from iPhones stuck in recovery mode.
Contact Apple Support: If the above methods don't work, it's advisable to reach out to Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for professional assistance.

Regular backups can prevent data loss in such situations.

Not sure if you copied this from an AI generated response or not? But NOPE. Once a phone shows connect to a computer, a Forced Restart won't help.

In addition, we've seen NO evidence that ANY third party tools can restore data once an iPhone is in Recovery Mode.

Sure, they can reach out to Apple Support, but even Apple CANNOT restore the data in a phone which will need to be erased and set up again.

Said as simply as possible, ANY data which has not been backed up will be lost.

Nope. It's too late for that.

Backups should be made before disaster strikes so you have them when the device is inaccessible.

If a restart does not get the device out of recovery, then all data is already gone and cannot be recovered.

The data on it gets encrypted and requires the passcode to decrypt. Without that the data is irretrievable sorry.

Unless you manually turned off the option, the iPhone automatically backs up to iCloud when connected to power and wifi and with the screen locked over an extended period of time, like overnight, provided there is enough space in iCloud for the backup.

You can log in to https://icloud.com and verify if there is a recent backup there you can restore from.
