After updating to iOS 18 now not before only now , what used to happen when memories are made taking pictures with gps ON to remember were I was it would appear perfect! Exact location would show . Now gps on and talking a picture with gps on nothing shows . Crazy thing test 8 other iPhone on iOS 18 all devices work but mine

Do you have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on? They are essential to finding your location unless you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky in all directions, and they even help outdoors in quickly finding the currently available satellites.
Also, go to Settings/Privacy & Security/Location Services/Camera and make sure it is set to “while using app” and Precise Location is On.

That discussion is showing, that the Face ID could be the problem.
Have you tried, if turning off "Require Face ID" in the Settings > Apps > Photos? Unfortunately, then the Hidden und Recently Deleted album will no longer be protected.

The whole setting had to be reset a user on Mac rumors gave the tip , other are experiencing the same issue
