How can I safely clean my iPad USB-C charging cable?

I can’t find any clear information or guidance on how to clean the metal contacts on my usbc charging cable for my iPad Pro, and I am scared of damaging it or my device by cleaning with the wrong product or in the wrong way. Please can apple advise me on the correct method?

You should not be messing around with the inside of the USB-C connector at all, much less trying to clean it.

The most you should be doing is if there is something inside the USB-C connector is use a plastic toothpick to dislodge it very, very carefully and a small anti-static nylon brush to dust in the rare occasion that may be necessary.

Outside of that don't mess around with it.

I understood it was the cable connector, not the iPhone connector.

The opening is very small on the cable end, so really not much can get in there to clean.

As I said, use a small plastic toothpick if something is inside or a nylon brush only if there is something visible inside the connector.

Outside of that, don't mess with it and if it's failing as mentioned, simply buy a new cable from a reputable brand or directly from Apple.

I like Ugreen USB-C cables, because they are well priced and high quality.

I’m not trying to clean anything internal at all. There was some slight/minimal tarnishing on the external surface of one end of the usbc cable connector from many years use, it’s barely even visible. The inside hole of the connector is perfectly clean. The cable works absolutely fine, it’s not a major issue. I look after my iPad well and certainly wouldn’t be messing around with the internal workings of it. I spoke to apple support and was able to simply wipe off a very small amount of tarnishing on one end of the cable with a dry lint free cloth. It took a few seconds. I was just interested to know for future reference what cleaning products were safe to use if the dirt had been more severe, and I was struggling to find any clear guidance, from online, apple, or from tech professionals.

Many thanks for everyone’s replies.
