iPhone 14 pro max charging port fault

Phone stopped charging and Apple genius said one of the charging port points was damaged. Asked had anyone tried to clean it - def not. Coincidentally my husbands phone bought at the same time also developed this fault and a friend has exactly the same issue. I think this is a manufacturing issue and would like Apple to resolve (other than quote me £500 for a repair!!). Can’t be coincidence so many iPhone 14 Pro Max owners have this issue from looking online it seems to be a problem.

Unlikely that this is a widespread issue with the iPhone 14 Pro Max charging port as Apple has not acknowledged any fault nor released a Service Program for it. It's possible your husband and your iPhone's charging ports were both damaged because you guys share damaged or non-certified charging cables that could have caused damage to it. Apple does not repair/replace charging ports, in lieu they usually replace the entire unit. If you are in warranty they may offer you a replacement warranty unit. If you are out of warranty, you may be offered reduced price for a new unit. But there is nothing aside from that we can do nor Apple as you have already been told the damage and offered service.
