Why does my iPad mini 6, less than 3 yrs old, battery die within 3&½ hrs on 18.1

My iPad mini 6 takes about 2 hrs to charge and only lasts 3&1/2 hrs. Is it from the updates from Apple. That’s wha5 seems to be the answer on Google. Does using Chrome take a lot of battery usage? Thank you for your help. Any and all appreciated.🤔

Maybe. I won't use Chrome on our iPads because on both Mac and Windows laptops, it is known battery drainer. It and its minion "helpers" seem to gobble up as many resources as they can. I don't trust it.

Streaming video and video- conferencing are also have massive resource demands and will drain batteries fast. Using wall power for these taska ar highly recommended.

If you have installed useless anti-virus and/or so-called "cleaning" apps, expect short runtimes.

Even with a less-demanding browser like..well, almost anything but Chrome...some web pages can be piggy. I'm finding that more and more. It is usually a sales site's product page with an "add to cart" button. Even leaving those pages open in the background decreases runtime.

Were it my iPad, I would:

1—update to the latest iPadOS

2—do a full shutdown and restart, then test

3—test with a less demanding browser like Safari or Brave.
