Why can't I copy/paste links as blue hyperlinks on my Mac?
When I attempt to copy/paste links, what gets pasted is plain text, not a blue hyperlink.
What am I doing wrong?

If you're pasting a link from the Apple site, just copy the link in the URL bar at the top of the page and paste it into your response. It should (occasionally it doesn't) put the proper text and highlight the link in blue.
If it's from any other website, you should be able to copy the link from the URL bar as well. Make sure you're getting the whole thing all the way to the https:// at the very beginning of the link. If you don't include that, it may not work. You can either paste the link into the response as just as the link. Or, use the add link icon if you want to add text and make it pretty.
When you right click on the chain icon and choose "Copy Link", it copies the link to the specific reply. If you want the link for the entire thread, follow Idris's instructions.
Anywhere is elsewhere but I just discovered a "insert link" function on a forum for pasting links in a reply on the forum but I cannot find where the link is on that one and have a couple people on it.

Okay...Thank you...right click on the chain but I can't find the link to copy.
For example what would I do to create a link for this post to this forum? Where is the http etc. link address. I only see the name of the forum up top in the address box.

Right click on the Link icon below and to the right and choose Copy Link.
Or click on the link icon, the select and copy the URL in the address bar.

You don't see something like this at the top of the page?
What application(s) are you using when you have this problem?
What are you pasting into, i.e. Apps?
+1
An example is a forum, not an application. I use Safari to get to the forum, the forum has links posted within it. I want to copy and paste those links elsewhere.
I am pasting within a forum and emails. I want to copy a link within text on a forum and paste it anywhere like an email, or a text.
That still begs the question, where is "elsewhere"?
Sorry, not waiting for the notifications. What happens when you try?
I see the chain icon but I find the link to copy. I tap the chain and nothing happens.
Right click on the chain icon.
