How to retrieve missing suggested contacts in Messages on iPhone?

I purchased a new iPhone 16 Pro Max three weeks ago, and this week I no longer see suggested contacts when I attempt to send a photo in a text message. I am manually having to type in a contacts name rather than clicking on the contact who pops up from the frequently used/suggested list. This was working previously, and I did not adjust any settings, so I’m not sure what’s going on. I have researched this problem, and nothing that I have found has worked. I went into settings and toggled the switch under the “suggestion notifications” within the messages menu, which is the only “fix” I’ve come across online. There is not an update available on my phone either.
