Why is Do Not Disturb not working as expected on iPhone 15 Pro Max?

So I've had multiple issues with DND not working as it should. I've even reached out to Apple support going over everything, and DND is a whole. It's not working right; it doesn't matter if I'm using the regular do not disturb with the moon, the sleep focus, movie focus, like I've even deleted all of my focuses and restarted, but I still get notifications. I'll still get some calls come through even though DND is turned on, and there's only one person that's allowed to call through, and that's my wife, but I'll get people that call me that are not even saved in my contacts, but it'll come through. I'm just curious if anyone else in the community is having a similar issue where there is evidently a bug or something going wrong with the DND focus features.

This issue has been recurring, and I can’t recall when it started. I’ve never had any problems with DND before. I reached out to Apple and even screen-shared with them. All the settings are correct: emergency bypass is off, phone calls are set to allowed people only, repeated calls are off, intelligent breakthrough is off, and silence notifications are set to always. It just makes no sense!

Scam callers and telemarketers use automated systems that can place dozens of calls to the same number simultaneously. This can overwhelm call blocking system allowing one of those calls to break through.

There's not much you can do about that. Your carrier may have tools in place that will block unverified callers. You may want to check with them.
