Why are newspaper photos not displaying on MacBook and sent photos showing as small blue boxes with '?' on iPhone?

Sequoia 15.1 - 2024 MacBook Air and iPhone12 Pro Max (iOS 17.6.1)

MacBook will not display newspaper photos within the articles. Cleared cache - no change.

Phone message app turns sent or received photos in small blue box w/a question mark.

Don't we pay a ton for these devices...also pay for warranty but no support person knows how to "fix" so add to the frustration the insane amount of time loss trying to get full feature use. Would love a real fix. Sadly it may be to let it all go and head to Google...another giant w/different problems?

In which application is this? And have you tried others to see if the problem is there too?

Usually because the app can't find the image in question. Where is it?
