Game Center on my MacBook Air logs me out

Ever since the last system update, GameCenter on my MacBook Air logs me out for no apparent reason. When I start a new game I'm prompted to sign in again, and when I sign in through the game it shows me as "anonymous" with no achievements.

When I check in System Prefs, it shows as Anonymous. If I click on "View account" it takes me to the App Store where my avatar is blank and it says zero achievements -- but my achievements/activity is still listed.

If I log out of GameCenter in System Prefs and then turn it back on, after I sign in it does show my screen name and avatar correctly.

What's going on here? I don't have this problem on my iPhone.

Today: I open up news, I get the "log into Game Center to keep track of..." alert. I go into System Preferences, I'm already logged into Game Center, with my correct avatar and handle showing.

After doing the mini crossword, News+ crashes. I go back to system prefs and see that "Unknown" account name and avatar again.

Me and my GF have the same problem. It is really annoying, we are constantly logged our, at least once per day, if not more often. Started about a month ago I think? Maybe two months. Before that: no problems at all. We have Apple Arcade.

In addition -- the logging out and then logging back in through System Preferences doesn't stick either. I just had to do it again after opening Apple News + to do the crosswords.
