What is this icon? In the status screen (blue one/top right)

More people see this icon on iPads? what is it and why is there no documentation about this status icon? A secret icon?! I have the feeling it is slowing down my file access also, but not sure, it is annoying because I do not know what it is? Apple helpdesk also do not know it?!

There is no documentation from Apple about this icon, but form other posts in the form, it seems to indicate a partial or complete download from Safari.

If you open Safari and let the download finish the icon should go away.

The icon indicates that your iPad is synchronising with "something".

Yours is one of many reports seen in recent weeks. At present, pending confirmation by Apple, this appearance of the icon is believed to have some relationship to post-update synchronisation tasks performed by your iPad after updating to iPadOS 18.x (such as downloading LLM models used by Apple Intelligence) - or the icon appears while a download is being performed as a background task.

Apple have not yet provided a definitive explanation.
