Can iMessages be downloaded or received on Android devices?

A friend of mine has an Android phone, and I want to communicate with him, but I use a email address for texting, and the android software doesn’t support sending text messages to an email address.

that being said, can iMessage be downloaded on his phone? And if so, can it text me?

and any other apple services e.g. Notes, calendar and contacts that can be downloaded?

Not through the web, but through apps.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Gandolf!

No, I’m afraid he can’t download iMessage to his Android. iMessage is strictly for texting between Apple devices.

The ability to send text messages to an email address is usually something your carrier will have/not have, and isn’t something that’s built into an OS, but I may be wrong.

None of the native to Apple apps can be downloaded on an Android device. Speaking of apps, there are many apps available with which you could message him. WhatsApp comes to mind, so does Discord, and many others.

Have a great day!

It sounds as if you've been doing this with the iPad. That may be the easiest way to continue.

However, you can text your friend on their Android phone using their phone number. Are you having some sort of trouble doing that?

If you want to collaborate on notes or documents and it's important for the Android phone to be involved, you may want to consider using a more platform-agnostic note-taking app. While your friend can certainly copy and paste information from Notes into some other app on their Android phone, that seems cumbersome. I'm sure there are lots of options out there. Google Keep springs to mind.

Sorry about how long it took to respond, took a few days off the internet.
Yes, I don’t have a SIM card, but I did help him set up an animation to send a text to his phone when I text him via the iPad.

Do you mean "automation?"

he is not seeking any other options then regular texting. And I don’t have a google account so that can be ruled out.

That was just one suggestion. SimpleNote is another one. Doing a search for "collaborative notes apps" would probably find you dozens, if not hundreds.
