I was on a website on my iphone on Safari browser and a message popped up on my screen saying that my Apple account had been locked and to call the link for a phone number in the message
I closed it out and changed my password is there anything else I should do or was it a scam or not?

Fake dialogue boxes coded in HTML by a fraudulent website appeared in your browser.
That was a classic example of an attempted scam.
You have nothing to worry about.
No action is needed.

It wasn't even necessary to change your password, though it also didn't hurt anything to do so.
It was nothing but a scam.
