How do I report and handle a scam text about disabled Apple Account and card?

I received a text (I reported it to Apple) that warns that my account & ICloud and card has been disabled. The text then asks to click on the link (ending in “access”) to fix the problem.

Scam! Here is a screenshot!

APPLE Alerts (): Dear Client, we disabled your Icloud & card due to unusual behavior on your account, if it’s not you review at before account closure.

Good job identifying that (rather obvious) attempted scam.

Some key points in a scam:

  1. That message never mentioned you by name (they used "Client").
  2. That URL starts with "iCloud", but adds "-profile.net", attempting to fool you into trusting the legitimacy of the link.
  3. Threatens "account closure" in an attempt to get a reaction.
  4. Never click an unsolicited link. This directs you to a scammer who is (most likely) working in an organized scam call center in another country.

That’s all the evidence you need to block, report and delete the message.

Again, good job in identifying that scam and spreading the message.
