'Presence Check eSIM The module was not detected' error on iPhone 14 Pro Max after iOS update

I travelled to another country and back to UK by Mid April and very next day I lost network of both my Indian and UK sim networks. This usually happen and I used to do network reset . When i did network reset this time it still says invalid Sim error . Then I decided to delete all my eSIM . When I try deleting my eSIM it hanged in same screen for an hour . I restarted device and tried to add same eSIM with QR code . It stuck again .

Then I did IOS version upgrade to 18 . Then boom, all options under Mobile service lost neither I can add sim nor I delete existing eSIM.

I took backup via iTunes and did factory reset . Now that the Mobile Service option itself disabled , I can’t even move inside the menu.

I ran the self service diagnostics option from Apple and it says “Presence Check eSIM The module was not detected”.

I went to Apple Store and they ran diagnostics and mentioned hardware issue and I am out of warranty so the repair cost comes to 700 UK pounds .

Later I restored the backup from iTunes and now that the Mobile Service menu is accessible but the options to delete or add eSIM is not available

I ran self service diagnostics again and it still says “Presence Check eSIM The module was not detected”.

Now I don’t know what to do , it’s just 1.5 years old device and I spent 1600 US dollars. Now it’s a piece of junk due to Latest OS upgrade from Apple .

Anyone faced similar issue and fixed it ?

@rashmi188 - No, I didn’t find a solution yet . I was waiting for the next software update to see whether it does some correction, and the update came (18.5) 2 days back and my iPhone stuck for whole day and night with (Verifying Update on screen). I end up force restart and it’s residing as mini tablet in home without mobile network.

For now I bought a brand new Android phone with 3 times less repair cost of this junk.

Decided to stay away from Apple products in my future.

Nope. Phones are regional... point in case... The US phone does NOT have a physical SIM slot. Devices sold outside the US have one eSIM and one physical SIM Slot. Devices sold in China, Hong Kong, and Macau do not have an eSIM at all but accommodate two physical SIM cards.

Some services may be available outside the country of original sale. Batteries, screens, etc. and in some cases it may be possible to get more substantial repairs or replacements, but that can take weeks or months depending on the parts needed, etc.

Talk to your cellular data provider.

I am having exact same issue. Same situation. No solution. Shame on Apple products - if we pay such huge price to buy their phone and they are not supporting to resolve this issue. They shouldn’t have released phones with eSIM modules, if it hasn’t been tested properly. My phone is 2 years old… who would replace an iPhone within two years? It’s crazy..

Not an Apple issue, what did your phone carrier say when you reported the issue to them?

It’s a US manufactured phone. So not sure if they have Nano-sim slot.

But I don’t understand how the software update (to 18.5) can trigger total eSIM module failure. And the Apple care argues that I have to bear charges for hardware replacement if phone is out of warranty. It seems total unfair to me.

Poor Work from Apple end given their pricey phones!!

Ahhh. ok. then there is no SIM slot.

You need to get on a plane and take the phone to the US and take it in to the Genius Bar at a US Apple Store and have it looked at.
