If I accidentally press the camera button on lower right side of phone while an incoming call is ringing it hangs it up so that I can’t answer. Is this normal and is there a way to fix this?

This is normal, hitting the side button hangs up the call
You can turn this setting off via: Settings> Scroll down and tap Accessibility. Under "Physical and Motor," tap Touch. Toggle on the switch next to Prevent Lock to End Call.
