iPhone 4 Battery

Under similar conditions, does a fully charged iPhone 4 battery last longer than that of the iPhone 3GS?
Thanks.

According to specs and internet hear-say then the iPhone 4 comes out on top in terms of battery life. I'm getting mine sometime next week, I'll only be able to compare to a 3g but I can give you some figures on general usage eg. texting most of the day with music for a couple of hours, the odd email and a bit of facebook, so basically general use of a teenager.

Not sure if this was what you were hoping for but hopefully you'll find some real-world figures useful, apologies about not being able to give the figures right away, still waiting to get through to t-mobile to get my upgrade :\

@ yokomo,

I would not argue with Allan, what he says is correct, If you open an app, and you hit the home button, it will not close it completely, most app will go in a frozen/suspended state so that when you go back to that app, you can start it where you left it off, it will not continue to run in the background at all, it will stop. The only exception to this is when you are using a navigation app and if you are using it to get to your destination, even if you do close the app by pushing the home button once, it will still run in the background, but when you reach your destination the apps should stop running in the background automatically.

Not all the apps for the iphone are fully supported for the multitasking feature. And for those that supported, what it does is if you leave an app, and come back, it will start where you left off, an exaple of this is angry birds, say you were playing angry birds, you left the app, it will then be in a suspended state and if you come back to angry birds, surely it's in a pause mode but you still can continue where you left off instead of having to load the whole app again.

I'm sure you know what I'm trying to say, but no apps are running in the background if you hit the home button. The only exception to this is if you are using gps/naviation.

Do yourself a favor here, check your battery usage (just the usage, not the standby), have some apps opened hit the home button to exit out of the app and put your phone into sleep mode, check your usage before you put it into sleep mode, say you used 10 min. and put it into sleep mode, check back 10-30 min. later, and check your usage stat, if it's still 10 min. surely you can tell that the app isn't running in the background even though it open under your recently used apps. If however, you check your usage and it's not 10 min. after you put it into sleep mode and you checked 10 min. ater (20 min. on usage) or 30 min. later (40 min. Usage) then you have something running in the background.

I'm apologize for the way I may have come off to you Allan but I'm frustrated with the lack of performance of this phone. My sarcasm is in need of work so I have been told, especially the timing. I purchased the phone at the end of July and it has failed in the performance area miserably. I have called Apple but was give the old 123 CS protocol run around and it did not resolve the issue. Like I said, I feel there is something running in the background, whether it's an Apple app or not something is decreasing my battery life, even in sleep mode. As I was saying before, I just want access to a shell so that I can see for myself what is running, and I have the right to that but we Iphone users do not have access to a terminal so that we can run diagnostics. The problem today is people can go on the internet and see a million posts on a subject and believe what they see, or be led to believe whatever a corporation wants them to, misinformation is a great way to make one passive and groomed to be pro-[Company Name]. I want to see what I believe to be the problem for myself so that I can determine the cause and make the deduction for myself. Is it to much to ask for after you spend good hard earned money on something you rely on? I guess I'm tired of being bullied by Corporate America and given no other option but to bend over and take it because they feel they don't have to show or prove to you otherwise. Let me also point out that Apple is usually pretty good about answering one's inquiries but ever since they have joined forces with AT&T(The Darkside) it has been nothing but a blame game between the two.

I can be pretty pessimistic and untrusting at times, but my gosh guy or gal, everyone is not out to get you. Life is way too short.

The info included with the link I provided comes from an app developer. That isn't the only website that provides the very same but one that provides the info in a way that is easy to read and understand.

I've had zero reliability problems - with the antenna, with the proximity sensor, and especially with the battery.
