What is critical now to prevent any damage that could be caused by the water spill is to keep your laptop powered off and removed from power completely.
What is also important to know at this point, is that even if you can remove all of the water, there is a significant chance that any residual contaminants in that water could be left behind. Some of these, could be electrically conductive. Meaning that they can still short circuit components when power is re-applied.
To give you a personal experience, I have a 2020 MacBook Pro. Shortly after getting it there was an incident where a small amount of water was spilled on it. We are talking maybe two or three tablespoons worth. I immediately removed it from power, turned it upside down with the display opened, and then, waited multiple days to allow the water to evaporate. Even after that, when powered back up, the screen's display was distorted, and I immediately removed it from power and contacted Apple to send it in for them to examine.
The end result was that Apple needed to replace the laptop's keyboard, logic board, and display. Regardless of the water (or any liquid type) amount, if it penetrates inside there is a chance that the computer will be damaged. Fortunately, for me, the repair cost was minimal due to having an active AppleCare+ plan.
So, it boils down to, if this laptop is important to you and you don't want to replace it, your best course of action is to contact Apple Support to hopefully get this resolved.

The only thing that can minimize the damage to the internal electronics is immediate removing all power including the battery. It is the mix of liquid & power that causes corrosion.
Of course like @Tesserax mentions, some liquids may leave behind a residue that can be problematic as well which will usually cause keyboards to gum up (Keyboards are part of the very expensive Top Case Assembly which also includes the Palmrest & many times the Battery). If liquid got into the Display, then it will leave it distorted.
Tilting the laptop to drain the liquid is dangerous since it can cause the liquid to move to other areas making it even more likely to cause damage. Avoid using rice to attempt to dry it out since rice just gets into the vents & beneath keys to cause problems & making it hard to clean & remove.
For most people once the liquid has been spilled, it doesn't make much difference since the damage is already done. Any Apple repair will be very expensive.....most times it is cheaper to buy a new laptop.
Turn it off and disconnect from power. Stop using it until it can be examined by an authorized service center.
+1
Ive opened the back panel, will the water start evaporating?
