When I am driving and someone sends me a text message on my phone it also appears on my navigation screen. This is not CarPlay. It happens with Bluetooth. It has something to do with the iPhone 16 because it didn’t happen with my previous phone, which was a 14.
Do this:
On your iPhone, open the Settings App
Tap Bluetooth
Look for your car and tap the circle to the right with an i in it
Turn off Show Message Notifications
Do this:

Turn off Show Message Notifications
What i would do is to turn on DND while driving, then you cannot get distracted by any message appearing
