Updated iPadOS, important app is now missing content

Hello,

I just updated my iPad Pro (10.5 in) to 17.7.7.

Because my storage was almost full, I was asked if I was okay with the update process offloading some apps before updating, then it would update, and then put the apps back. I have done this many times before on both my iPad and iPhone, and I said okay as usual.

When the update process finished just now, I opened the anki app, and it was empty - it said welcome and was prompting me to “get started.” It’s like I’ve never used it before. My 4 profiles are gone, as are all the notes/decks. I’m confused because my iPad’s storage still shows that the app is using 27 GB, which is how much it was using before I updated.

I am slightly confused and quite miffed.

I have tried restarting my iPad twice, as well as offloading the anki app and redownloading it. I very much do not want to delete the app, which I assume will also delete the 27 GB of data that is being hidden somewhere (?).

Any advice is appreciated. This app is a complete necessity in order for me to study.

Thank you so much.

It is a bug in 17.7.7 and affects many other apps. See posts here in the iPad section.

If you have encountered or suspect a significant bug, you should submit a Bug Report via Apple's Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

When submitting your Bug Report, please ensure that you include details of your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS within the body-text of your report along with details of the problem. Do not rely upon the pick-list - as this rarely includes the current version of iPadOS.

Every Bug Report counts. Unless reports are submitted (with adequate detail), Apple may not assign resources to investigate and correct the issue.

In addition [i.e., not as a substitute] to submitting a Bug Report, you might also consider seeking assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page; you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
