iPadOS 17.7.7 update has really caused issues to my iPad Pro

This update has really caused issues to my iPad Pro 10.5 inch. Some apps have lost all state every time they are reopened, and revert back to their initial initialisation screens. Programs like procreate show their example artworks. Some games have lost all progress, and apps like YouTube ask me to log in each time.

I have tried a full reset / restore, to no avail, but that added a new issue which now once a day I am asked to log in with my password rather than Touch ID as "I have recently changed my password". I downgraded to 17.7.6 to find the restore for the iPad does not work, so had to reinstall 17.7.7 before restoring.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you StephC74

I tried your suggestion about 4-5 hours ago, and so far it is looking positive, not had anything reset itself or boot me out yet.

I can't pretend I understand why or how it works, but it does appear to have worked for me, the morning will confirm or otherwise

"Restart iPad using the top button and either of the volume buttons. Slide to power off and then wait 30 seconds before powering on.

Toggle your iCloud settings. Settings, tap your name, icloud

Temporarily disable iCloud drive and iCloud keychain

Restart your device and then re-enable iCloud Drive and iCloud Keychain.

I have the same iPad Pro. All apps that are not Apple apps want me to log-in before the app will open. Some apps refuse to update even when you click on the word “update”.

Why doesn't Apple test the security updates before it puts them out there?

Hello~ Apple does in fact test updates. Problems happen as with everything….nothing is perfect.

I also have the same issue.

I often use my iPad for productivity and a bit of gaming. It's been annoying me that my game data will delete on its own and now I get concerned for the apps I use for designing will do the same. Its causing a myriad of issues on my iPad Pro 10.5 after updating to 17.7.8 and honestly I am not pleased.

I hope this is not a way to force users to upgrade.

Park the paranoia. Be assured that Apple do not adopt the practice of sabotaging their hardware to encourage users to upgrade their devices.

However, older devices eventually lose support - and obviously do not enjoy many of the newer features available to new models. The iPad Pro 10.5", second generation iPad Pro and sixth generation iPad are perhaps in their twilight of update support - now only receiving security updates. While Apple have not announced end-of-support for these models, you might reasonably anticipate that support for these models may cease within the next 6 to 18 months.

It seems you are alone in your assessment of 17.7.8 as even the poster you have responded to has noted it resolved their problems and posted a very thankful response to the quick action taken on the part of Apple. The issue with game data being deleted is no longer being reported, so that will require more specifics on what you are observing or the "myriad" issues you are referring to. Other than that, you are just citing concerns or theories that are unfounded.
