iPadOS 17.7.7 update has really caused issues to my iPad Pro

This update has really caused issues to my iPad Pro 10.5 inch. Some apps have lost all state every time they are reopened, and revert back to their initial initialisation screens. Programs like procreate show their example artworks. Some games have lost all progress, and apps like YouTube ask me to log in each time.

I have tried a full reset / restore, to no avail, but that added a new issue which now once a day I am asked to log in with my password rather than Touch ID as "I have recently changed my password". I downgraded to 17.7.6 to find the restore for the iPad does not work, so had to reinstall 17.7.7 before restoring.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you StephC74

I tried your suggestion about 4-5 hours ago, and so far it is looking positive, not had anything reset itself or boot me out yet.

I can't pretend I understand why or how it works, but it does appear to have worked for me, the morning will confirm or otherwise

"Restart iPad using the top button and either of the volume buttons. Slide to power off and then wait 30 seconds before powering on.

Toggle your iCloud settings. Settings, tap your name, icloud

Temporarily disable iCloud drive and iCloud keychain

Restart your device and then re-enable iCloud Drive and iCloud Keychain.

You say Feedback Assistant makes a difference, yet I know a bunch of people here have submitted this very issue, as have I. But, when you look at that same submitted report, notice how just like most other bugs submitted, Apple says there are no similar reports.

Are you confusing Feedback Assistant with the Feedback link provided by LotusPilot? I don't see where LotusPilot recommended to use Feedback Assistant which is a portal for Developers to use or those participating in testing public betas.

I have had exactly had the same problem. I call the Apple help line. They eventually put me through to a manager.

he said it was a problem with the third party apps! I informed him that I only had the problem after the latest IOS upgrade 17.7.7. I said to him, “So i am the only one affected” He said I did not say that sir, but kept saying it was third party apps. There was no point carrying on with the conversation.

Same with me (Germany). They told me that tecs are working on the problem. After asking for a timeframe they said „no idea“. I will not be able to use my banking app and i am in holiday. This is terrible for me. Earliest solution is next week they said and i should phone again. I aked the very friendly supporter to give my negative feedback to whom ever it concerns.

This is completely unacceptable. I am very sad that my favourite IT-product makes such mistakes and there is no help in sight

Yep, they have acknowledged the problem and it does not benefit Apple at all to delay a fix any longer than necessary. The last thing they want to do is push out another failed update. Is there also a problem accessing your bank online? And since the iPhone was not affected, you do not have a phone for app access while on holiday?

I do have it with me but no banking apps installed. Yes, I could do that but then I have to register the device somehow… My Newspaper-App is also only usable on a „bigger“ device. My „home-watching“ camera apps are installed on the IPad and can only be installed and registered on a new device when in the same WLan….

I am afraid that even if a bugfix-version is released I will have to register all my apps from zero…

Me too, I have iPad 9.7 and having the same issues as everyone is talking about since installing 17.7.7. Have to constantly sign in to apps that I did not need to do in 17.7.6. Very annoying, hopefully a fix comes out soon

Yep, it affects all users with iPad OS 17.7.7. Apple has acknowledged the problem with the update and has already pulled it so it is not available any longer. Stay tuned.

iPad Pro and 17.7.7. Our issues are with OneDrive and YouTube. In every session OneDrive prompts us with the same series of questions and then drops us on the Gallery screen rather than the My Files screen as it used to do (and continues to do on the iPhone running iOS 18). Various YouTube videos play without showing description, comments, or progress bar. Can't collapse or back out of the video, and tapping the screen crashes the app. Same video works fine on the phone. Took a while to find this discussion, but relieved to know we are not alone.

Downloaded, anyone know if the bugs are fixed?

I guess that you and others that install this patched update will find out - and will hopefully communicate your results for the benefit of others. Reports seen thus far are encouraging.

Given that iPadOS 17.7.7 rendered affected devices unusable, this new update will hopefully resolve issues that were reported to Apple by those that took the trouble to do so.

I have upgraded and so far, so good! Even my settings came back in some programs, and TowerMadness restored back my progress too! Some software like procreate and notability are now littered with many copies of introductory files (seemingly new ones have generated each time I opened the app) and I'm slowly working on re logging in to every program that needs it, but yay, thanks for getting it sorted out Apple!

YEAH!!!! Give the Apple Team a Huge THANKS for solving the problem in a matter of a few days (including the weekend no less)
ONSONG seems to be remembering all my quirky settings. Now I can focus on the show and not have to keep resetting every time I open the program.

Hello~ That’s very nice of you to post here. Apple wants happy customers and it’s my own personal belief that they do their best to achieve that very thing.
