AppleTV 4K fails to sync with Philips Hue Sync Box

When the AppleTV is used in conjunction with a Philips Hue Sync Box, it sometimes fails to sync the colors with what is on the screen.

My setup:

  • AppleTV 4K connected to Hue Sync Box via 8K compatible HDMI cable into port 2 of Hue Sync Box (4k enabled HDMI In).
  • Hue Sync Box is connected to HDMI 1 In on tv.
  • Hue Sync Box is set to enable CEC and automatic video detection to enable sync mode

What is the issue:

When the AppleTV is turned on, the Hue Sync box, TV, and Soundbar turn also turn on (as expected), but the LED light strip for the sync mode does not sync to the TV content (from AppleTV). The LED light strip appears to be on but set to white at the lowest brightness. No matter what is on screen the lights do not sync.

Resolution:

I have to perform a Restart (not Reset) on the AppleTV to resolve this and when the AppleTV finishes restarting, the sync begins working again. Note: manually turning off and on the AppleTV with the remote does not resolve this issue, I have to go to Settings and restart it from there.
