I have a iPhone 16 pro max, I have to scan my ID/passport and I says “just scan your chip using the back of your phone”
it just doesn’t scan anything, no passport no ID cards, is this a common problem with the new model or what can I do?

This is not a common problem. Are you sure that you have an id or a passport with a nfc chip in it? Here in the Netherlands only passports issued after 2022 have that chip in it

Does it have the e-passport logo on the cover?
The phone cannot automatically scan your passport. You need an app that has that functionality.ie if the app "needs" to scan the passport as part of its function.
