The screen is not just cracked but shattered with quite large holes right through. Most of the touch still seems to work for the moment. I bought this iPad about 4 years ago so I’m just trying to decide if buying new would be smarter than trying to fix.

Unless you have Apple Care, for an 8th generation iPad, it is not worth repairing. The out of warranty repair cost will not be worth it. Upgrade to the 11th generation (A16) model. For 128GB of storage it's $349. You can sometimes even find it cheaper on sale at Amazon.

For the front screen damage.. it only displays the A16 iPad.. you can choose other damages, BUT PERSONALLY, I would buy a new iPad 11th generation instead of repairing it
