My iPhone won't show missed calls when it's dead

My phone has not been reporting missed calls in my call log if my phone is dead. For example I fell asleep and my mom called me multiple times and when I charged my phone I don’t have any missed calls from her for last night.

A phone can't recognize and report a missed call if the phone is not powered on when the call would have been received. However, someone can leave a voicemail (that doesn't require the phone to be on as the voicemail is handled by the cellular carrier, not the phone).

Because your phone was powered off and not connected to the cellular network. You will only see that when the iPhone is powered and and you miss a call. If she left a voicemail, you should have received that after you powered the phone back on and connected to your cellular network. If she did leave a message and you did not receive a notification about that, then contact your cellular carrier as there would be a problem with your voicemail. But a missed call when the phone was powered of will not appear.
