Unable to Sign In to Apple ID on Apple Watch Series 4 – "Verification failed" Error After Recent Update
Hi everyone,
I'm facing an issue signing in to my Apple ID on my Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS, 44mm) after a recent watchOS update.
The problem:
After entering my Apple ID username and password on the Watch, I receive the following error:
"Verification failed. An unknown error occurred."
This has been consistently happening and prevents me from signing into my Apple ID on the Watch.
What I've already tried:
- Resetting the Apple Watch and setting it up as new
- Resetting the password for my Apple ID
- Ensuring 2FA is enabled on my Apple account
- Following all steps suggested by Apple Support
I reached out to Apple Support and was eventually told that two-factor authentication is no longer supported on the Apple Watch for my Apple ID. This seems odd, as it worked perfectly until a few months ago.
Questions:
- Has anyone else seen this error on Apple Watch Series 4 (or other models)?
- Could this be a bug introduced in a recent watchOS version?
Any help or confirmation from others experiencing this would be appreciated. I hope Apple can look into this and issue a fix soon.
