im trying to get my iOS software version up to date its currently on “15.8.4” and says “up to date” when checking to install the updates. I have free ram and storage and stuff i try to download certain things and it required higher ios application ofc but its seemingly high as it will go as of now

The iPhone 7 originally ran iOS 10. It received five major updates. You can update it to the latest release of iOS 15 (currently iOS 15.8.4). It cannot run, and will never be able to run, iOS 16 and higher.

That is the most recent, and highest version, available for your device. Running newer software requires a newer device.
No way to update an iPhone model 7 or 7Plus, sorry.
