I have looked all over even searched for the satellite function, but cannot even find the icon for this feature. It as if it is not on my phone at all….even with flight mode on, all cellular, Bluetooth and mobile signal off.
any ideas?

I am currently in a country where it is not available and the controls do not show up. I did test it while in a country where it is available and it worked.
You must be in an area where cel phone coverage is spotty and where your wifi networks are not available. Also if you bought your iPhone in certain countries ie Russia and China (and others), the phone does not have the required hardware for satellite.

Emergency SOS Satellite Features is only supported in certain countries. Below the following countries are supported.
Emergency SOS via satellite is available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the U.K., and the U.S.

I am currently working in the MENA region, Kuwait actually, which may explain the option not even showing up. I will attempt this again when I return to the UK during summer.

Feel free to post back and let us know. You can also contact your carrier and see if they offer their own off the grid satellite service. You are very welcome.
Are you in a country that has Satellite Connection available. It is not available in all countries.
Control centre looks like this, the satellite option is not there.
