Since iPads will not download from, or view from, photo cd’s, which makes the more sense:
PS….there is presently no “computer” in the house….only iPads.

I'd go for the old computer, depending on how many CDs you need to convert the price may well exceed an older computer's price just for that purpose.
If it's only a handful, then it may just be easier to get them converted.
Also, if you have a friend with a computer you can borrow, its also a possibility if you have only a few CDs to convert.
You know, there used to be Internet Cafes that had computers to use for a small fee. Are they still around?
Hey-- I just googled Internet Cafes, and it showed me several in my area. You might have to call and check to see if they would let you plug in your own CD drive-- or maybe they have them.

thanks Richard, I hadn’t thought of that. I have pretty much decided to just go with the commercial data transfer business…….for the amount of photos I have it well be less than the cost of a used computer.
