Why are 2007 apple earbuds shaped like that?

Hi, I’ve got some earbuds released in 2007 and they don’t fit in my ears very well and even when I eventually persuade them it doesn’t take much for them to fall out.

The very first wired Apple Earbuds were released in 2001, that were bundled with the 1st generation iPods, was known as the "Apple iPod Earbuds."

The ones you have, were released in 2007, and were bundled with the 1st generation iPhone. They were called: Apple Stereo Headset. Since then, Apple has released, each with different design & technical elements incorporated, the following:

  • 2008 (A1288):Apple Earphones with Remote & Mic and were bundled with the iPhone 3GS
  • 2012 (A1475): Apple EarPods w/ 3.5mm headphone plug
  • 2016 (A1748): Apple EarPods with Lightning connector
  • 2023 (A3046): Apple EarPods with USB-C connector

Have you tried any of these other ones? Regardless, if you are not satisfied with what Apple provided us back in 2007, you had plenty of time to consider other options ... Apple or not.
