On the iPhone 16 Pro, there’s a button on the lower right side that takes you directly to the camera. Is there a way to change this to another function? I understand that there’s a button on the upper left side that can be customized but I’d like to customize the right sided button as well.

That is the Camera Control button. You can customize it to certain other functions, such as Code Scanner, Magnifier, or a third-party camera app. You can do that in Settings > Camera > Camera Control > Camera. But if you want to customize it to non-camera functions, that would be a job for the Action Button, which is located on the top left of your iPhone above the volume buttons.
