Barcode camera button missing on iPhone 16 Pro Max
when I touch the camera icon, the screen comes up with the normal picture commands but there is no barcode command button in the list.

You don’t need a barcode command button. If the camera sees a QR or UPC code it will recognize it.
There is also a button on the Control Center to scan codes.
