The bug is in WhatsApp. Meta is well known for their poor user support, which is why contacting them for a resolution does not work. Sending the message to them about the bug is still important to make them aware, but you will most likely not get any kind of response. They do provide a Help Center for basic app usage, but it never includes information about bugs found in their software.

If you have your apps set to automatically update, you will notice a blue dot next to the WhatsApp icon to let you know it has been updated. If you do not automatically update your apps, you will need to go to the App Store to update it manually. It will require an update from Meta to resolve the problem.

The last update to WhatsApp was just yesterday, and it was one of the previous 10 updates in just the last month that introduced the bug that you are seeing. If you have not updated to the most recent version, do that now and if that update did not fix the bug, then you will have to wait for one that will. It does not appear that the updates are being tested in-house very thoroughly to check for bugs before they are released to their users with that frequency of updates being seen.

Android users say it doesn’t happen with them

Apps on different platforms use different code and are updated independently. An Android user can also have a bug in their version that does not show up in the iPhone version for that reason.

You are making incorrect assumptions.

WhatsApp had been updated multiple times in the last weeks in order to squash bugs. Just because the "problem" doesn't not exist on Android does not mean it is a bug with iOS.

It means it is probably a bug in WhatsApp. Again contact Meta.

thank you for your reply

OK, I understand that I have tried to contact Whatsapp, but I didn’t get a proper response. Maybe they didn’t understand what I was saying. I’m just wondering why it’s not only me many of my other friends with an iPhone have the same problem so this is a bug with Whatsapp that is Only with iOS

others with android have said they don’t have that problem

Thx

The Android version of WhatsApp and the iOS version are two different apps, each with its own unique code and unique bugs. But they are both written by Meta. Apple can't fix Meta's buggy software; only Meta can.

  • To view the update history of WhatsApp, you go to the App Store and search for WhatsApp and there is a section called Whats New - Version History. You can view that to see how often Meta updates the app. You will see there the version number of each update and when. Currently, it shows 12 updates in just the last month with the latest version being 25.16.7 and that one was released yesterday. Note that an update can add features and fix bugs, but also introduce new bugs as you have found out.
  • WhatsApp is not an Android product, it is a Meta product. Yes, it is the same company that makes Facebook. They develop an Android version and an iOS version and send the app and updates to each respective App Store for users to download from there. It is not the same app sent to both stores, which is why an Android app cannot run on an iPhone and an iPhone app cannot run on Android. Every developer is responsible for testing their own apps and some will do that better than others.

But how do you know how many times it has been updated when I contacted meta it said last update was April something don’t know the exact date now now it’s end of May and I have updated at least three times in the last couple of days I know that Whatsapp is not a Apple product, so Whatsapp is an android product then iOS has the problem just assuming things
