How can I download my messages to view on another device

My wife and I have a ginormous message chain that spans a couple years with over 200000 messages. I would love to look back at certain periods in our lives, but the issue is way the message app works makes it a super laborious task (scroll wait, scroll wait). I was wondering if I could have a way to see my messages in a more easily accessible format. I can see it's all on icloud and taking up 240GB and I would love to have it on my pc. I also have access to a mac too if that is the only way, but I don't recall there being that feature on there either. I saw there were some 3rd party apps that did that, but I would like to use icloud since it seems more secure and the data is already all in the cloud. I can't imagine how long it would take to upload all of it from my phone elsewhere again.

If this is not a possibility is there a way to submit a request for a feature (maybe to add it to icloud.com since it already has a couple other apps there)? Or if anyone knows of any good 3rd party tool that also includes images and videos in the upload?

Thank you!

I recommend that you invest in an application such as TouchCopy or iMazing. Both will allow you to archive your messages to a nicely formatted PDF or to a txt file that can be viewed on a wide range of devices. Both are secure because the data only goes from one of your devices to the other. I've been using iMazing for several years and am pleased with it. It has a whole bunch of other features I almost never use.

Thank you for your reply! I will be trying iMazing tonight. Do you know if the messages need to be loaded onto the phone in order to show up in iMazing? I just realized that the message app size on my phone is 4gb and the iCloud storage says it’s the full size.
I don't know the answer to that. However, if you're using iCloud Syncing for Messages, all the messages should be on your phone. I'm not convinced that that number on iCloud is reliable. But again, I really don't know.

It seems like it worked fine and brought all the messages from icloud too! Thank you so much for your help.
