what should i do if my airtag is connected to my old apple id that i no longer have access to?

I need help trying to connect my airtag to my current apple id/device. I've tried doing the replace battery take in and out 4x thing but it hasn't completely worked for me;( it acts as if it is reset and ready to connect til it gets to the last step of completion and notifies me that it is connected to a different apple id ( my old account) I've tried getting into my old account to disable it myself but without knowing the password, no longer using the phone number linked, or the email I cannot remember, I cannot access!

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 18

AirTags are permanently tied to the Apple Account that was used to set them up unless you explicitly remove them from Find My while signed into that Apple Account Since you no longer have access to that old Apple Account (and can't recover the email, phone, or password), the AirTag will keep saying it's connected to another account — even if it looks like it’s resetting.

Your only potential option is to try to recover your old Apple Account, using Apple Account Recovery via: iforgot.apple.com.

Alternately, you can contact Apple Support directly for further assistance. Be sure to have a copy of your sales receipt to prove ownership of the tag. Go to: getsupport.apple.com → Choose AirTagLost or Unable to Set Up → and follow the steps to speak with someone.
