After deleting a photo in Preview it still appears in the thumbnails

I found a thread describing my problem, but it has been closed:

"After opening several photos in Preview, when I delete one (ie. Move to Bin) it still appears in the thumbnails"

This makes it almost impossible for me to use Preview the way I have for many years.

@MisElaineous, were you able to solve it on your Mac?
